Blog Introduction

Adult Content Warning: This blog contains nudity and sexual situations in the form of anime drawings and figures that I consider wonderfully artistic. If you are not yet familiar with the following terms, then I am honored that my blog serves as your introduction to such delightful topics.

LIST OF EROTIC JAPANESE TERMS
- Doujinshi: Self-published comics that are usually erotic in nature and often parody existing anime or manga works.
- Ecchi/Hentai
: Anime, manga, or games that feature sexually stimulating or erotic content. Refer to the already well-written wikipedia articles to understand the specific differences between these two terms.
- Eroge: A combination of the words "erotic" and "game", an eroge is a Japanese video game that feature erotic content.
- Futanari: A female who has a penis, either temporary or permanent, and may or may not also have a vagina. Sometimes abbreviated as "futa".
- Nakadashi: The act of ejaculating while the penis is buried inside a vagina.
- Oppai/Mune: The Japanese word for breast.
- Paizuri: Mammary intercourse in which a penis is stimulated by a female's breasts.
- Panchira: The Japanese term for upskirt.
- Pantsu: The Japanese word for panties.
- Shirikoki: The act of rubbing one's penis between buttocks.
- Shoujo-ai: A term used to describe the romantic relationship between two females.
- Yuri: Similar to "shoujo-ai" but refers to explicit sexual relations between females.

So... In the vast sea of internet blogs, what makes this one unique? Let me start by explaining its title:

"Eye of the Beholder" - This site has nothing to do with the early 90's series of PC games by the same name (which were quite enjoyable, I might add). Rather, it is intended to acknowledge the subjectivity of the multitude of ever-increasing anime-based drawings, animated works, and resin/PVC figures. It is my hope that this site will help bring some objective reasoning as to why certain works contain true beauty yet still recognize and respect that everyone has varying tastes.

"The Elegant Succubus" - A succubus is a female demon who seduces her victims, draining them of their sexual energy through non-consensual intercourse to the point of exhaustion. In modern drawings and fantasy-based games, a succubus is usually depicted as a nude or scantily-clad bewitching demoness with wings, horns, and/or atypical skin color. Now, I bet at one time or another, you've come across an image, figure, or animated scene that has caused you to drop your jaw in utter amazement, right? ...a work that almost feels like the artist created it specifically for you? Well, I wanted my blog's title to portray that indescribably captivating feeling that one suddenly experiences when first discovering such works that completely enchant one into a staring state of paralysis. The preceding "elegant" emphasizes that content is not solely based on raw sexual desire but also involves a certain refinement and sophistication.

I'm betting that some of you are thinking, "What a waste of time and breath... For crying out loud, it's just PORN!" If so, I implore you to realize that the overall quality of erotic fanart, doujins, animation, and figures has dramatically increased over the past two decades. With the advance of time and technology, along with a great number of artists now able to showcase their work via the internet, gone are the days of 256 color eroge, low frame rates, horribly censored doujins, and extreme production limitations on figure design (i.e. nipple-less breasts). This new era permits works with fluid animation, depth-inducing shading, varieties of art styles, and astonishingly high quality detail. Take note, however, that I am NOT advocating the treatment of all erotic works as wonderfully artistic displays... There is still some low quality and tasteless stuff being made. In regards to character design, style, plots, and voice acting, though, some erotic works are now on par with (or even surpass) mainstream anime and manga, warranting detailed analyses and discussions that I feel are sorely lacking.

Having perused a number of image boards in search of the most beautiful of images, I've become frustrated over their formatting. I agree that popular image boards are the source of absolutely exquisite content if you spend the time to sift through for the gems. However, the high volumes of uploads on such boards require that thread life be relatively short, hampering any in-depth analysis or meaningful discussion on any specific image. I can't help but feel that some really great works are not receiving the proper attention they deserve.

Since I cannot draw even if my life depended on it, I will instead share my literary talents with the online community by means of this blog, which has several goals: (i) to introduce its readers to images of truly epic drawings, figures, and animated titles as well as other elements of such erotica which they may not otherwise be aware, (ii) to acknowledge the creativity of the associated artists by providing as much source detail as possible, and (iii) to analyze these works in great detail via intelligent delineations and discussions, finding hidden meanings behind their beauty and discovering what makes them so awe-inspiring. I gladly welcome feedback on any artists or sources that I have listed as unknown.

Images with a thick gold border around them indicate that I consider these images truly epic and deserving of special attention. Images with a dashed blue border indicate it is a link to an animated GIF or video.

You will also see questions in blue text scattered throughout the blog. These are directed at you, the reader, so as to generate discussion on the various topics and works. Feedback like "Wow, that's hot!" or "Great image!" are absolutely fine, but I am ultimately looking for more that that... The purpose of this blog is to understand why we find certain works so appealing.

very nice introduction.I am slowly reading your blog. The image(elegant+beauty.jpg)is very captivating. Where did it come from(movie,book,internet...)?

Thank you. That image is an absolutely stunning portrayal of Astaroth, a beautiful succubus from the Japanese card game Shinra-Bansho. This rendition is actually a color/design modification of an existing drawing by artist Tony Taka. There's a lot of beauty and elegance to stare at in this enchanting drawing, isn't there? My eyes find themselves shifting uncontrollably between her alluring eyes, wonderfully proportioned breasts, and inviting vagina... She definitely lives up to the title of succubus.

haha, comes as no surprise to me that that image is by Tony Taka, he's an amazing artist. But I digress; just discovered your blog, and it seems like just my kind of thing! You seem to be a very well-read intellectual, I think I'll enjoy coming here often.

Thanks for the compliments, jj. I hope that the writings and discussions on this blog help you discover new fascinating aspects of erotic Japanese art. Feel free to strike up a conversation at any time. ^_^

Strange how fates work...I found this blogsite from another blogsite belonging to a english translator (Kusanyagi), as well as a doujin scanner known as (Virgil Leone), which in turn had been revealed to me by a stunning doujin/comic relating to the Pokemon series.

The 'The Elegant Succubus' explanation above really helped me understand better the feeling I had when I read that translated doujin by Kusanyagi and Virgil Leone.

I find it strange that all my life as a child, 'pornography' or anything to do with learning about 'sex' was seriously frowned upon, and if you had any knowledge about it, it automatically....excluded you and made you an outcast--or at least that's the constant impression would happen if such a story ever got out. That constant pressure really paints a bad image across the entire realm of 'hentai' and 'porn'--including the artistic beauty and 'elegance' appearing in many of today's new works.

In fact, finding a blog like this actually PROMOTING openly this shunned category of art in a direct, open, and modest manner really gives hope that the future may bring more appreciation and understanding for the works that occur within the realm of 'hentai' and 'porn'. Indeed, just reading the introduction here has convinced me there is indeed more to 'hentai' or sexual artwork than just the simple 'porn is dirty and for losers' aspect.

Again, only wish in the future this may one day become a more accepted and integrated part of society and culture. If not at least, the literary standards and respectful atmosphere you've provided here for discussion and appreciation around these subjects definitely has the power to reach out and help other visitors better understand/appreciate this growing phenomenon.

Perhaps I've written too much for an anonymous comment, but I felt the honest urge to share my thoughts. I can't guaranteed that I'll be able to check back to reply or chat more, but I want to pass on a thanks for making this site/community, and I hope this entire domain of hentai/sexual artwork will become better understood and accepted through people like you guys not being scared to spearhead sites like this.

Good luck. You've given a stranger some honest inspiration and hope for the future.

^.^

Words cannot express the absolute elation I felt while reading your fascinating comment, anonymous. (It pains me to have to refer to you as such, but I respect your desire for anonymity). Your statements about pornography's "forbidden" nature and how one simply did not discuss it publicly mirrors my early life experiences as well, as I'm sure it does for many individuals.

It addition to its forbidden nature, I suspect erotic art is also an unfortunate victim of timeworn stereotyping... In retrospect, I cannot help but laugh at the erotic movies and drawings that I recall fawning over in my youth which, by today's standards, have little to no artistic merit. Fast forward to modern-day where the quality of some erotic art, comics, and animation can achieve unbelievably epic levels of detail and artistry... However, such works still get lumped together with everything else and classified as "dirty porn". For example, take this unbelievable drawing by Simosi... It should be on display in a museum acknowledging the artist's real name, not rotting on low-quality pornographic websites. Perhaps such prejudices will extinguish in the next generation or two.

Does erotic art's significant evolution in recent years warrant society giving it another look? I've been thinking a lot about this lately, and part of me wonders what society would be like if erotic art was completely socially acceptable (i.e. discussed in the work place, available at supermarket checkout aisles, etc). Humans, by nature, tend to seek out what is forbidden... Would having it so readily available and socially acceptable tend to make it bland and stale? Would we all lose interest in it or would it thrive and flourish? Food for thought...

Thank you again for your wonderful comments, anonymous... You've made my day and fueled the passion I will continue to infuse in this blog. ^_^

P.S. Although Kusanyagi and Virgil Leone worked on at least two Pokemon doujinshi together, I highly suspect you are referring to Daremo Shiranai Monogatari No Tsuzuki, right? It's the one that features a fascinating characterization of Misty, who along with Ash are trying to manage their budding sexualities. (Ash desperately tries to find an excuse when Misty discovers him reading an ero-manga, and Misty pretends to be offended by his post-coital kiss when in actuality it meant everything to her).

Yes, that is correct. Although I'm quite horrible at taking to memory the names of various Doujin/Comics I read, the ones with good story and great characterization worthy of the originals themselves always are remembered to me. Your description of that comic was excellent and indeed marked the primary Pokemon Doujin that first gave me inspiration to do further background research--which led from Kusanyagi and Virgil Leone's wordpress sites, which quite shortly after, to here at ElegantSuccubus. The work done by translator and scanner Kusanyagi and Virgil Leone was really phenomenal, and also by all means, an equal amount of credit to the original author and creator of that doujin. There is a number of other comics that I think ran by Virgil and Kusanyagi, and they too were so deeply rooted in the original spirit of the characters from the anime, that reading the comic was really seeing perhaps a 'complete' side to the characters that isn't simply shown on public television due to censorship for young children, or the fact they might be 'too young to understand'.

Which leads me to one last comment made by yourself, which was wonderfully put by the way, worthy of being quoted in literary works if any brave soul ever decides to write a paper/study on the effects and culture of 'Sexual Art/Hentai/Porn'.

If ever there was a set of text I'd wish I could show people whom could influence the masses to understand and create a more appreciative/inclusive society, it would be that text. Perhaps you should save that yourself, for it seems being the skilled writer you are, it is only natural to assume you might one day (if not already) be one of writing talent that could take on such a moving project.

Of course, that's all in the humble opinion of a stranger. I once again voice my thanks not only for your generous and very engaging reply, but once more for the courage you did take in founding this site and keeping it running--running long enough that a stranger like myself was able to stop by, become inspired, and have the privilege to leave a thank you comment.

As an ending, that link you provided that referred to that magnificent art by Simosi, indeed, the future is changing rapidly--perhaps more rapidly than the pace of technology in the internet and electronics from the last ten years. If works like Simosi are actually being created through the growing phenomenon of culture, technology, and communication/sharing, then it deserves a place among artistic circles not as a image of pornography and hormone-induced ravaging desires, but as an actual work of magic that could be argued to rival such works as Michelangelo and Leonardo--except in the form of modern-day understanding and perception.

I take my leave now, lest I permanently draw further unwanted attention. Yet indeed, if I am able to come back more free from the restraints of being Anonymous, the question to consider and discuss across all true websites that appreciate Hentai/Sexual Artwork would be this:

What if the world one day could accept erotic art in all it's various forms and mediums, as a socially and free source of passion, inspiration, beauty, understanding, intellectual discussion, scholarly studies, hobby, past-time, art, and imagination/creativity? Imagine the changes, the culture changes, the changes in society, the kind of acceptance towards many different groupings, the level of equality, understanding, compassion, kindness, tolerance...

...definitely a thought worthy of keeping as a dream and hope for the future, even if it may be a future beyond the years our bodies will exist in. The future holds many surprises...as long as one doesn't give up hope or in their dreams.

I'll retire now, and most likely not return for sometime. Again...my thanks extends to you, Kusanyagi, Virgil Leone, the original author of (Daremo Shiranai Monogatari No Tsuzuki), and all the other people in related circles helping make these things more accessible and also further understood in a literary, scholarly, and intellectual manner of appreciate, thinking, and connection.

Thank you, and good day.

[Part 2]

PS. Sorry, the comment was too long, I had to split it into two sections. Cheers and keep the inspiration!

Anonymous: Most of my favorite doujinshi are those that retain the spirit of the original characters. As you mention, such titles provide a sense of authenticity and explore how characters might react to situations they would never experience in the official anime or manga. (Just how WOULD Ayanami Rei handle herself in a sexual encounter, anyway? ^_^)

In regards to your response to my thoughts about an "alternate universe of erotica acceptance," you are TOO kind. I am hopeful that this blog and others like it help to usher in such an era of understanding in the world of erotic art. Who knows... Perhaps works like Simosi's Horo will end up in a museum's "The Erotic Revolution" gallery 100 years from now.

Again, thank you for sharing so many of your well-organized and intelligent thoughts. I thoroughly enjoy such exchanges and hope that our paths cross again sometime in the future. As long as my burning passion remains, I will continue to expand this site.

Take care.

I'm glad to see futanari get serious attention finally, without all the barbs that some hentai/anime fans throw at it. The best futa possesses an oddly fascinating beauty to it, that enthralls the viewer. It's like if you could make a beautiful woman even prettier, somehow. A combination of beauty, and raw sexual power that erases any lines dividing hetero and homo ideas of sexuality.
I hope you find much more material to post on your blog. Thanks for sharing it with us.

"...a combination of beauty, and raw sexual power that erases any lines dividing hetero and homo ideas of sexuality." Brilliantly stated, anonymous! Your words have inspired me to write a review of an absolutely fascinating futanari-themed drawing I recently discovered... Look for it soon.

ES, a few years ago, I came across a futa manga showing a futa being milked like a cow. For some reason, that's quite intriguing to me, and I was wondering if you knew of any similar-themed mangas? I'm afraid I don't remember the title of it. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanx!

Elegant Succubus said...

Hey anon... I've seen a number of "milking futanari" scenes, but never an entire doujinshi or eromanga dedicated to it. My favorite such depiction is this scene from Futanarikko High! [2008-03-22] in which a very elegantly-dressed bespectacled teacher briefly milks her young futanari student.

If you have any further info on the manga/doujinshi you're thinking of, let me know, and I'll see if it rings a bell...

The one scene I remember about it is where the futa is put in stocks (like the old punishment for criminals), while an old lady milks her into a bucket. I've looked for it for several years, but never found it again. Thanks for any help.

Anon: I'm not a huge fan of bondage themes, so that might explain why I don't recall the doujinshi you're seeking. Your description did make me recall a similarly-themed erocomic in which a really cute pair of futanari enjoy a passionate encounter while gathering their numerous ejaculations in a bucket... I never identified the source, though.
