Wikipedia and the Deletion of Shimoyakedou

Having just been made aware of several new releases by the wonderful doujinshi circle Shimoyakedou, I stopped by Wikipedia to update the corresponding entry that I previously spent many hours putting together... or so I thought. Instead of being greeted by the detailed summary and references I gathered several months ago, I shockingly discovered that the entry has been outright deleted. No modifications... no revisions... just complete deletion. Intrigued, I read the discussion history and found some rather dissatisfying reasoning:

"This circle is not Peach Pit, Type-Moon or 07th Expansion."
Hmmm. So these are the only three doujinshi circles that are allowed to exist on Wikipedia? Curious...

"Dōjinshi circles typically are not notable to begin with and this one is no exception."
Really? So what makes Peach Pit, Type-Moon and 07th Expansion so special?

"The article also contains a great deal of original research in the form of analyzing their artistic styles..."
Okay, perhaps those details were inappropriate for Wikipedia. However, couldn't those comments have simply been removed from the article while retaining the comprehensive doujinshi list as opposed to deleting the article outright?

"Simply having a booth at several Comiket events... doesn't make one notable either."
Invalid point. Shimoyakedou has had doujinshi releases at no less than ten Comiket events as well as Comic Revolution, Comic Market Special, Comic Castle, Sunshin Creation, and most recently COMIC1 2. Even if the number of conventions attended itself is not an indication of notability, Shimoyakedou has most certainly released doujinshi at more than "several" such events.

I admit I am rather surprised that Wikipedia users did not accept or appreciate the effort, detail, and references I compiled. I even spent time tracking down an old Comiket catalog that marked Shimoyakedou's first convention appearance and used it in the bibliography.

I guess I'm partially to blame for not monitoring the article closely enough and defending it. However, I remain undaunted and see this as the perfect opportunity to put together an even more comprehensive and detailed Shimoyakedou summary on this blog which will hopefully get a warmer reception. Look for it soon...

Sorry to hear about the deletion. Wikipedia has a lot of red tape and many users have become pretty jaded. Please don't be dissuaded though. Keep it up and get working on that revision. I'd be happy to help if needed.

rogue.liter: Thank you for the encouragement and offering of assistance. Two opportunities: (1) I've been tossing around the idea of posting tastefully well-written "guest reviews". If you are interested, let me know and perhaps we can coordinate a side-by-side comparative review of one of Shimoyakedou's doujinshi. (2) Although I have been studying Japanese, my limited knowledge thus far has prevented me from fully understanding the artist's lengthy reflections at the end of each Shimoyakedou doujinshi. I realize this is somewhat selfish of me, but if by chance you are able to help from a translation standpoint, let me know. It would provide wonderfully unique insight into his work.
